Got a brand new 1.4t elite nav, lovely car but I noticed today there isn't any sound insulation under the plastic engine cover. Still a very quiet engine though. My previous astra k 1.4t elite nav had it, still a great car for the money imo.

On some Ferarri models they use fiat door handles. So yes even these makes do. The Porsche Macan uses the base of the former Audi q5, not the latest Q5. I know this is not 100% the same as technically we were speaking about leaving items out along a cars lifespan, but my point is cost cutting happens everywhere in the car industry.
I drove a 68 plate 1L Ford fiesta st line recently for a fortnight, and that didn't even have an engine cover. It was a nice car to drive but the engine noise in the cabin in low gears was very noticeable compared to the astra.
yes agree the removal of all the sound proofing is a bit much maybe ... mine can sound like a small van at times!
