Diamond Cut Alloys

Postby DCX » Sun Jan 01, 2017 9:51 am

Can anyone help me please, after keeping these perfect, I hit a curb and damaged the edge section of alloy :( . Does anyone know of a DIY fix please as I am not paying someone to do something I may be able to do.

Not a diy repair I'm afraid will need a specialist and could cost between £60 -100 depending on where you are

Great results...what were the steps and tools you used?

Thank you Proph :)

1. Cleaned out the scrape with Janitol general cleaner 1:4 water
2. Rinsed
3. Taped off all areas not to be touched
4. Used wet and dry gradually from 240 > 600 > 1200
5. Buffed the area with rubbing compound to get it to blend in better
6. Used a clear coat laquer for 2 coats.
7. Allowed it to dry fully under a uv lamp.
8. Waxed the entire wheel with Soft99 Fusso wax.
9. Fitted back on to the vehicle.

Took a few hours to acomplish but its saved me quite abit of money.

Wow great job, your a dark horse sounds like you have your own workshop and the full array of tools, really pleased you got it looking like it was never damaged.

I have a scratch in my alloy do you think I could use the same procedure?
